You Are The Decision Maker For Your Life

You know, we can have the most enlightened beliefs about life and how life works but they can remain pretty much theoretical until we have an opportunity to practice our beliefs. [YAY Contrast?]

For example, I have for many years been aware of the power of choice. I have reminded myself on a daily basis that I get to choose. I have frequently tried to convince clients that they too get to choose. Perhaps this blog post will remind you of the awesome power of choice you possess.

Why is that important? Because we create our own reality through the choices we make.

So, the day before Thanksgiving 2015 I had an opportunity to take this understanding to a deeper level. My elderly mother had an accident at home and ended up spending a week in the hospital followed by six weeks in a rehab facility. I am her primary caretaker when she needs care and this situation was very difficult for me. For one thing, it broke my heart to see my sweet mother suffering and incapacitated. Second, I was called on to make her my priority and completely shift my schedule to tend to her needs. I’m in no way complaining; just explaining.

After three days I was exhausted both emotionally and physically and I felt like I was getting sick. In meditation that Saturday morning, something wonderful and much needed happened. Like a lightning bolt, I received the profound clarity that:

I Am the Decision Maker for My Life and I Get to Choose!

In that moment, I took my power back. I was once again on top of my game, I was empowered and committed to moving forward in a state of alignment. I felt transformed and was filled with appreciation for that amazing shift.

After meditation that morning, I asked myself, “OK, then, if I’m the Decision Maker for my Life, what do I choose in this situation?” This is the list I wrote that day:

*I choose to stay well.

*I choose to BE strong.

*I choose to move through this experience with ease and grace.

*I choose to trust that everything is unfolding perfectly.

*I choose to feel good even under these conditions.

And it worked! As I moved forward, whenever I started to feel sad or overwhelmed, I simply re-affirmed these choices and clicked back into my power.

I continue to have many opportunities to remind myself that I’m the decision maker for my life. And I can tell you that accepting the power and responsibility that come with truly being the decision maker for my life aligns me with bold, empowered choices as well as bold, empowered actions.

Imaging And Personal Power

The ultimate personal power is imaging your goal at a deep mental level, and letting the power loose. Other than that, all else is just spinning “your physical wheels”. Meditation, hypnosis, self-hypnosis, goal oriented art like vision boards are all part of it. But, if you do not have a definite goal in your mind you want to achieve, you really are just spinning your physical wheels in a shallow way.

If you genuinely want to get anywhere, you must do what counts. You must take direct and powerful deep action. You must get down to the grits and sweat of where the power is, and it is where you least expect it. It is a reserve deep within yourself, your mind, your spirit, your personal genesis. What I mean by your personal genesis is what you really do want at the deepest level. Not just desires like money, home or whatever, but your deepest goals in your heart, soul and spirit.

I can only give this advice: Persist in your visualization and do not care if it goes to plan, as long as you make the goal you want to achieve genuinely. Only the most genuine of losers want things to go too closely to plan and quit when they do not, anyway. Remember what I wrote above about “spinning your physical wheels in a shallow way”. After all, too much effort is worse than none at all at times because it is like burning out a motor in neutral with full gas applied, if you get what I mean. Meditation for the sake of meditation without a genuine goal, spiritual, physical or otherwise is like this. Why do you think so many in meditation get that powerful understanding that a goal is needed after meditating like this for many years in neutral until they realize the reality of the situation anyway?

Look, some will understand, some will not. Indeed, though, consider this, meditation without a goal of any sort except to blank the mind will just be that, a blank slate without any achievement. Personal power comes through a genuine goal and objective however you look at it. That is the reality of the situation, even God and existence have a goal: The creation of the Universe, and that is always active, do you see my point to the extreme, now. On the other hand, the devil or Satan does not have a genuine goal except to bring everything down, destroy and steal personal power. Get it? So, start by imaging your genuine goal, and persist in it as God persists in creating the universe and existence and you will achieve. Actually, you cannot help but achieve if you really want the goal because persistence is power when done right, persistence is neutral lethargy when done wrong. Learning to Enjoy Every Minute Of Your Life

Learn to enjoy every minute of your life. Every minute should be enjoyed and savored. We often get so caught up with our busy lives that we tend to forget how important it is to truly live in and experience each and every moment. We live for the big and exciting things while appreciating little things at the same.

To be happy, we need have a quality life and a balance among work and friends and family. Happiness is a choice. You can choose to be happy. With me, what you see is what you get. Yes, call me naive, but I love life. I am happy, and for that, I make no apologies.

Trust yourself. If you’re happy, if you’re feeling good, then nothing else matters. Don’t waste a minute not being happy. Be happy with being you. Love your flaws. Own your quirks.

We overlook the seemingly meaningless, for the something meaningful. And we live for the big things, and not for today. Do what you’ve been dreaming of doing. Enjoy every moment. And follow your heart completely. And do it all while you still have the chance.

It is common to assume the happiness of this life is more important that the happiness of future lives, but if we consider more carefully we shall see that the happiness of future lives must be more important because the happiness of this life is brief whereas future lives are many and long. We work so hard and put so much effort into securing happiness for ourselves later on this life, but it makes more sense to work as hard as we can to prepare for future lives.

If we are to respond to life’s difficulties with a positive or peaceful mind they would not be problems for us; indeed we may even come to regard them as challenges or opportunities for spiritual growth. So, despite the delusion of anger, for example, views other people as intrinsically bad, but there is no such thing as an intrinsically bad person. This shows that in itself ice cream is neither delicious nor disgusting.

That is why I am not affected with what other people say. I am happy because I am myself and my kids love me. I am very happy also especially when I see my old friends way back in high school. It’s easy to impress me. I don’t need a fancy party to be happy. Just good friends, good food, and good laughs.

I’m happy. I’m satisfied. I’m content. Life is beautiful. What about you?
